Cost:

Development of the technology and the design of the circuitry were done with minimum number of components as possible, so as to make the product totally cost-effective, and to reduce the component failure rate. Further, emphasis was given to the use of only indigenous components, which are freely available in the Indian market; for the development of the circuitry. This was done with a vision to avoid bottlenecks in all stages of production and marketing. For the development of this product, usage of customized components/parts were kept at the minimum, in order to ensure that the mass production process does not get hampered, and the "economies of scale" is achieved for the manufacturer.

For all the three versions of Electronic Ballast prototype, the cost of the components (including the PCB) for manufacturing of single Electronic Ballast is well within 2.5 US Dollars (Two and a half USD). This cost is computed on the basis of the components cost as in the Indian retail market. The cost of the product would further be radically reduced when the components are sourced directly from the components manufacturers/wholesalers, and the product is manufactured on a large scale.
